This gracious sandstone building was opened in 1913 as the residence of Alberta's Lieutenant Governors. The mansion was closed in 1938. Used as a WWII veterans' hospital from 1944 to 1950, it became a home for disabled veterans in 1951. Following extensive restoration in 1975, Government House was reopened in 1976 as the province's official government conference centre.
